Learning through Play – The importance of Free Play

April 2021 eNews Headers (48)

In a recent study, scientists have discovered that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain unless it is done in play, in which case it only takes 10 to 20 repetitions!

Weekly swimming lessons are a small piece of the puzzle when it comes to learning how to swim, and swimmers will progress more rapidly if they are exposed to opportunities for free play. When swimmers are able to play without the time constraints of swimming lessons and are with someone they trust like mum and dad, they are more likely to try new things they might not necessarily feel confident doing in lessons.

This is also an amazing bonding opportunity for you and your child! All swimmers in our program get free access to the pool 7 days a week with a full paying adult, so there is no better time to start playing!
