Last Wednesday two of our incredible team members, Nikol and Katherine, visited the local Jack and Jill Kindergarten to join in on their fortnightly focus topic, Community Helpers.
As part of their visit, the ladies talked to the children of the ‘Possum’ group about the importance of learning to swim and water safety.
Our team would like to thank the Jack and Jill Kindergarten for having us and allowing us to educate the Mosman community about water safety.
We hope to see the ‘Possums’ implementing their new knowledge soon!
Read more about Nikol and Katherine’s interaction with the children below:
The ladies asked the children first “Has anyone been to Mosman Pool?” Lara, Leon, Charlotte and Emma raised their hands.
The ladies then asked the Possum’s “Why is it important to do swimming?”
Luis raised his hand and said “ You know how to swim.”
Nikol mentioned “There is lots of water around Australia, everyone should learn how to be safe in the water.”
“Who else is important that you can see at a pool/beach?” The ladies asked the children.
Viktor raised his hand and said “Lifeguard.”
Nikol then explained to the children how lifeguards can keep us safe.
The next question the instructors asked was “ Where do you swim at the beach?”
Luis said “Flags”
Leon said “In the water”
Charlotte said “Flags are red and yellow.”
Nikol then asked “If you see someone in trouble at the pool or beach who can you go get to get help?”
Luis said “lifeguard at the beach.”
Nikol mentioned you can go tell your parents or the adults you are with as well as you as children should never go into the water alone.
The instructors then explained to the Possum’s that “To stay safe in the water you can take swimming lessons that teaches you how to float, paddle and how to get to the side of the pool”.
Thank you Jack and Jill for having us and for the incredible participation from all the kindergarteners!
